Georgia senatorial candidates abuse the commerce clause
Yesterday, U.S. Senatorial candidate Representative Paul Broun did not vote on any bills. Phil Gingrey and Jack Kingston voted for H.R.3588, Community Fire Safety Act of 2013 while This bill fixed a problem where the Safe Drinking Water Act of 1974 did not allow leaded pipes to be used to put our fires.
The Constitutional Authority Statement says, "Congress has the power to enact this legislation pursuant to the following: According to Article I, Section 8, Clause 3 of the Constitution." This refers to the Commerce Clause that says, "To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes."
Most Americans would be unable to see a connection between the federal government regulating trade across state and national borders and regulating fire fighting water safety within the borders of a state.
Our Constitution was written to decrease the power of the federal government. The idea was that if a bad law was written, only those states that passed the law would need to follow it. Fire and drinking water regulations should be made by state and local governments, not by our national governments.
If you want an expansion of the federal government then vote for these Representatives who are running for the U.S. Senate. They have learned the ways of Washington. If you want a smaller government then look to the other candidates.

Will GA General Assembly votes haunt candidates for open US House seats?
There are 16 candidates running
for three U.S. House seats that are being vacated by incumbents who are running
for the U.S. Senate. Five of these House
candidates are Georgia General Assembly members who have voting records. Their votes, not their speeches, show a
politician’s true principles.
The grid below shows some of
their votes.

The blue “Y” is a vote for
progressive/statist legislations.
Below are all 16 candidates for
the U.S. House. The conservative/liberal
grades come from the voting analyses from http://www.ElectTheRightCandidate.us
1st District:
- · Buddy Carter – State Senator – ETRC D Grade
- · Darwin Carter
- · Jeff Chapman – State Representative – ETRC B Grade
- · Bob Johnson
10th District:
- · Mike Collins
- · Gary Gerrard
- · Jody Hice
- · Donna Sheldon – State Representative – ETRC C Grade
- · Stephen Simpson
- · Brian Slowinski
11th District:
- · Bob Barr
- · Susan Davis
- · Edward Lindsey – State Representative – ETRC D Grade
- · Barry Loudermilk – State Senator ETRC B Grade
- · Larry Mrozinski
- · Tricia Pridemore
Listed below are five
legislations on which the five General Assembly members voted.
- · SB 97 – A vote for this is a vote for crony capitalism. It creates an “Agricultural Commodity Commission for Beef. This is a public/private partnership compliant with Article 2 of Chapter 8 of Title 2 in the GA Code. The Beef Commission will join other commissions such as a peanut commission, an equine commission, and a commission for Georgia grown products. The bill includes a tax on the sale of cattle that the bill refers to as an “assessment.”
- · HB 198 – A vote for this facilitates ObamaCare by licensing health care navigators. This will increase the size and cost of government. There are also significant privacy concerns. Conservatives should devise ways to end ObamaCare, not facilitate it.
- · SB 24 – A vote for this facilitates ObamaCare with a hospital bed tax for the Medicaid expansion. Conservatives should work to decrease the need for Medicaid by creating a healthy environment for growing the economy. This bill does the opposite by raising taxes. Conservatives should devise ways to end ObamaCare, not facilitate it.
- · SB 81 – A vote for this destroys private property rights. This bill dictates that it is unlawful for someone fail to plant Ginseng berries immediately after picking the plant. This means that you cannot lawfully build your home if there is a Ginseng plant on the building site. Ginseng is a cash crop. This bill means that farmers cannot change to another crop after harvesting Ginseng. Conservatives should be very careful they fully understand the law when voting against property rights.
- · HB 354 – A vote for this is a vote for central control of education. On lines 73 to 75, the bill states, “To act as the agent of the federal government in conformity with this chapter and the administration of any federal funds granted to the state to aid in the furtherance of any functions of the department.” This bill facilitates the national education standards of “Common Core.” Conservatives should work to end national control of our children’s education.
The United States has taken a
leftward turn. A major reason is that
many Republican politicians run as conservatives but then once in office, they
vote like liberals. These politicians are
RINOs (Republicans In Name Only). It is
very important we evaluate the voting records of candidates to assure we elect
true conservatives.
